Search for one or more words across all available resources. Use logical operators to create advanced queries.

* – substitutes for any value, use to search for a record by part of a word, can be used at the beginning or at the end of the search value;

e.g. enter Pol*, *land, *olan* to search for Poland

AND – use an operator to find records that match all of the query conditions at the same time: for example, type Acer AND Poland to find all Acer alegates that occur in Poland

WARNING: Using the AND operator we will not get the results if in both conditions we enter data referring to one column e.g. Column: Country Query: Poland AND Sweden

OR – use the operator to find a record that satisfies at least one of the query conditions;

type e.g. Poland OR Germany to search for specimens collected in Poland and specimens collected in Germany

type e.g. Kowalski OR Bolivia to search for specimens collected in Bolivia by Kowalski, all specimens from Bolivia, and all specimens collected by Kowalski

NOT – use the operator to find a record that does not contain the given value;

type e.g. Kowalski AND Acer NOT Kraków to search for Acer specimens collected by Kowalski outside the Kraków area;

TO – use the operator to search for a date range;

type e.g. [“2000” TO “2010”] to search for alegats collected from 2000 to 2010;

WARNING: the phrase must be written in square brackets [] and the correct date format “YYYY-MM-DD” e.g. “2001” or “2001-03” or “2001-03-08”

() – use round brackets to separate expressions, remember to close them

A space between two words acts as an operator AND

You can combine logical operators.

type e.g. (Convallaria m*) OR (Poa a*) to search for all records containing the phrase Convallaria m… or the phrase Poa a…

type e.g. (Festuca ovina) OR (Festuca rubra) AND (Poland) NOT (pomorskie) to search for allegats Festuca ovina or Festuca rubra from Poland outside the Pomeranian Voivodeship
